A great quote, capturing what it means to ride a motorcycle, comes from Antonie Predock. “The connection to place, to the land, the wind, the sun, stars, the moon… it sounds romantic, but it’s true – the visceral experience of motion, of moving through time on some amazing machine – a few cars touch on it, but not too many compared to motorcycles.”
Although riding a motorcycle is an amazing experience, it is also a dangerous one. Motorcycle accidents cause greater injury because the body is unprotected by the steel surrounding a car or truck, and the risk of flight from a motorcycle at speed significantly compounds the risk of serious injury. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that in 2013, 4,668 motorcyclists were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes – 14% of all fatal traffic accidents. An estimated 88,000 motorcyclists were injured.
Driving a motorcycle, safely and responsibly, is a right we all share. Car, truck, and bus drivers are obligated to share the road and exercise caution to protect that right. When they do not, and you have been injured, it is your right to seek compensation. But, just like other injuries caused by driver error, you can expect a fight and in most cases need a lawyer who is on your side and willing to fight until the end for what you deserve. If you have been injured on your motorcycle, give us a call. We are here for you and will provide a free consultation.
